Punjab College of Law was started in the year 2016. Management of the College i.e. Sikh Educational Forum Tarn-Taran (SEFTT)., took up the challenge to take up legal education to the door steps of the common man so that the latter can feel themselves at par with the legal fraternity of the cities. After getting NOC from the Punjab Govt. for opening Law College it took affiliation from GNDU as well as recognition from BCI, New Delhi.
Management has an expertise in the field of nursing education being as the students of other institutes being run by management are making a mark in State of Punjab. On the same pattern management has decided to extend its expertise in the field of law. For this management has appointed a regular staff including its Principal, selected and approved by GNDU. Principal has a rich experience in legal education. He has guided a number of PG students and is guiding the students to achieve their doctorate in Law. It is this expertise of the management that has prompted it delve into legal education and to not only produce toppers in legal profession but also to produce expertise in different fields of law i.e. tax, lawyers in the field of Crime and Civil Law. The management intends to attain heights as that attained by the legal schools in different parts of India. For this special provision has been made for the students to brush-up their communication skills. This would be done by subjecting the students to the moot competitions, debates, declamations; extempore etc on the directions of Hon’ble High Court & instructions of District Session Court, a legal literacy club has been constituted. This will not only sharpen the knowledge of the students but also improve their skills. Management has made efforts to conduct seminars and lectures by legal fraternity and administrators as a routine affair which may motivate the students and draw out best in them.
A Library with book-shelves having books of Indian and foreign authors of more than 15 lacs. Besides having Indian Law reporters i.e. AIR’s and SCC the library also has volumes of England Law Reporter with which students can refurbish themselves with the latest legal trends in other parts of the world. In this direction management has taken another important step and i.e. to make the campus Wi-Fi and it has also purchased software by which the students can download latest High Court & Supreme Court judgments on current issues. A number of reference books have also been kept in the Library written by Legal luminaries, so that the students may cherish their stay at the college campus for long times to come.
PCL is spread over an area of Five acres and has well ventilated spacious rooms, well-furnished and attractive moot court room; Nicely built and well stacked computer lab.
A Hotline connection has been obtained for College campus; Multipurpose hall having capacity of more than 400 seats have been constructed.
Other extra –curricular activities that may include the athletic tracks, basket-ball, Volley-ball & badminton grounds etc. The students participating in the games can compete at the university level and then may shine at the state/National level. Two-hundred meter track and grounds especially that of badminton, basket ball and volley ball. By Joining the Punjab College of Law students can avail all the facilities available at the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar like Hiking-tracking camp, NSS Camp, Jashan, Youth festivals etc.
A Canteen with fresh preparations for the students is available.
Above all, college has a Gurudawara Sahib for guiding and attaching the students to their culture. Also available for Handicapped students is the ramp.
Transportation for the students from Amritsar, Patti, Goindwal Sahib, Harike etc..is available. Girls students can also avail hostel facility.
Mission
The Punjab College of Law (PCL) has started with aim of not only producing best quality lawyers but also Judges, PCS, IAS & IPS officers. Through Punjab College of Law Sikh Educational Forum Tarn Taran intends to reorient the youth for leading a satisfactory, well-off & productive lives.
Consistency & determination help man to overcome the highest peaks & it is with this aim to inculcate these virtues that Punjab College of Law has been started so that the students may be able to attain the heights unknown earlier in this region.
