Punjab College of Law (PCL) was established in the year under the management of the Sikh Educational Forum Tarn-Taran (SEFTT). The college was founded with a vision to make quality legal education accessible to students from all backgrounds, enabling them to compete with the legal professionals in metropolitan areas. After obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Punjab Government, the institution secured affiliation with Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) and recognition from the bar Council of India (BCI), New Delhi.
The management of PCL has extensive experience in the field of education, particularly in nursing education, where students from its other institutions have excelled at the state level. Leveraging this expertise, SEFTT decided to extend its contribution to legal education by appointing a highly qualified faculty, including the Principal, who has extensive experience in legal education. The Principal has guided numerous postgraduate and doctoral students in law. The institution aims not only to produce top legal professionals but also to nurture specialists in diverse fields such as tax law, criminal law, and civil law.
To enhance practical legal skills, the college has established a state-of-the-art Moot Court Hall that provides students with hands-on experience in legal proceedings. The institution organizes moot court competitions, debates, declamations, and extempore sessions to develop students' advocacy and communication skills. Additionally, in accordance with the directives of the Hon’ble High Court and District & Sessions Court, a Legal Literacy Club has been formed to sharpen students' legal knowledge and practical skills.
PCL regularly conducts seminars, guest lectures, and interactive sessions featuring prominent legal professionals, judges, and administrators. These events expose students to real-world legal challenges and provide insights into emerging legal trends. The interactive sessions also serve as a motivational platform, helping students prepare for judicial services, litigation, and corporate law careers.
The college houses a well-stocked library with a collection of over 1.5 lakh books by both Indian and foreign authors. It subscribes to Indian Law Reporters such as AIR and SCC, along with volumes of the England Law Reporter, enabling students to stay updated with global legal trends. To support legal research, the college has subscribed to digital legal databases, allowing students to download and analyze High Court and Supreme Court judgments on contemporary issues. Additionally, the library features a special reference section with books authored by eminent legal scholars and judges.
Spanning five acres, the college campus features well-ventilated, spacious classrooms equipped with modern teaching aids. The institution boasts a fully furnished Moot Court Hall, a well-equipped computer lab, and a Wi-Fi-enabled campus, ensuring students have access to digital resources for legal research and study.
PCL emphasizes the holistic development of students by providing excellent sports facilities, including athletic tracks, basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts. The 200-meter track and dedicated sports grounds encourage students to participate in university, state, and national-level competitions. Students at PCL can also avail themselves of extracurricular opportunities offered by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, such as hiking and trekking camps, NSS camps, youth festivals, and cultural events.
The college provides a well-maintained canteen offering fresh and hygienic food for students. Additionally, hostel accommodation is available for female students, ensuring a safe and comfortable stay within the campus.
To maintain cultural and spiritual values, the college has a Gurudwara Sahib within the campus, allowing students to stay connected to their religious and moral beliefs. Moreover, ramps and accessibility features are provided to accommodate students with disabilities, ensuring an inclusive learning environment.
PCL offers transportation services for students commuting from Amritsar, Patti, Goindwal Sahib, Harike, and nearby areas. This facility ensures a safe and convenient commute for students residing in different regions.
With its commitment to academic excellence, practical training, and holistic development, Punjab College of Law stands as a premier institution, dedicated to shaping the legal professionals of tomorrow.
